Wet Hire Machines & Operators, Ready to Work Across WA

Wet Hire, Done Properly

What is wet hire?

Wet hire means you get the machine and the operator in one package, as opposed to dry hire, where you rent equipment and supply your own operator. Every machine we send to site arrives with one of our own vetted, ticketed operators behind the controls, so you get productivity, compliance, and safety from hour one, with none of the admin of recruiting, licensing, or managing a separate operator.

For project managers juggling multiple subcontractors, wet hire also simplifies liability and supervision. The operator is our employee, working under our safety systems and induction requirements, which means one less person you need to manage directly and one less set of compliance paperwork to chase.

Wet hire vs dry Hire:
Which is right for your project?

Both options have their place, and the right choice usually comes down to whether you already have a qualified operator available in-house

Dry hire

With dry hire, you rent the machine only and supply your own operator — a good fit if you already have qualified staff on the bench and simply need the right equipment.

Wet hire

You get the machine and a Mulroy Group operator together, the better fit when you're short-staffed, working to a tight deadline, or want the reassurance of an experienced operator who already knows the machine and the ground conditions.

Many of our clients run a mix of both. Dry hiring equipment for their own crews on longer-term jobs, and wet hiring machine-and-operator packages to cover gaps, last-minute call-outs, or short bursts of extra capacity.

3 easy steps

Our wet hire process

01

Tell us what you need

Share your project scope, machine type, timeframe, and site conditions. We'll recommend the right machine and operator pairing for the job.

02

We match machine and operator

We draw from our pool of vetted, experienced operators and match them to the specific machine, site, and task at hand, not just the first available person.

03

Induction and mobilisation

Operators complete all required site inductions, machine pre-starts, and safety checks before work begins, so there's no lost time on day one.

04

Machine and operator arrive on site

Equipment is delivered ready to work, fully serviced and compliant, with all pre-start documentation completed.

05

Ongoing support for the life of the hire

A direct line to our team throughout the job, if you need to extend, swap an operator, or scale up to a full crew, we handle it fast.

06

Wrap-up and feedback

At the end of the hire, we check in to make sure the outcome met your expectations and capture any feedback for future placements.

Our Vision & Values

Why choose Mulroy Group for wet hire

Mulroy Group's wet hire service pairs quality, well-maintained machinery with our own licensed, experienced operators, so your project keeps moving without the added burden of sourcing machinery and people separately.

From a single excavator to a full crew, we mobilise fast across Perth and regional WA, backed by 20 years of hands-on civil construction experience.

Fast turnaround, including last-minute cover

Staff pull a sickie on a Monday, or you need a night-shift operator by Wednesday? We specialise in short-notice wet hire cover, with our phones on from early morning to late evening, seven days a week.

Real industry experience, not just account management

With 20 years in the civil construction industry, our team has personally worked the machines and the sites we now supply, including subdivisions, roads, freeways, and mining-adjacent projects across WA. That means we know what 'good' looks like on site, and we hold our operators to that standard.

WA conditions expertise

Deep, practical experience operating in Western Australia's sandy soil conditions, giving project managers confidence that the operator on their machine already understands the ground they're working.

Personally vetted crews

Every operator goes through our own team before being placed, so when we send someone to site, you can trust they're skilled, reliable, and ready to get the job done. We don't just fill roles; we select the right person for the job.

Family owned, direct access to management

As a family-owned WA business, you deal directly with people who have skin in the game, not a call centre. Our clients can reach decision-makers directly, not an anonymous booking line.

Flexible, scalable support

Need one operator for a day, or a full crew for six months? Our model is built to flex with your project, scaling up when you need more hands, and scaling back down without long-term commitment when the job's done.

One Hire, Everything Covered

Regional & rural capability

Mulroy Group is based in Perth and works state-wide. We supply wet hire machinery and operators across the Perth metro area and into regional and remote Western Australia, including short and long-term regional placements and FIFO-style arrangements where required.

Our team has direct, on-the-ground experience with WA's ground conditions, meaning machine selection, technique, and safety planning are matched to the site, not a one-size-fits-all approach brought over from the east coast. That local knowledge translates into fewer surprises, less rework, and equipment that performs the way it should from day one.

From a single machine on a small subdivision to supporting a Tier 1 contractor's broader workforce plan, our operators are matched to the scale and standards expected of the project.

One Hire, Everything Covered

Our commitment to safety

Safety underpins every wet hire placement we make. Operators are inducted to site-specific requirements before starting work, machines are pre-start checked, and we maintain open communication with site supervisors throughout the hire.

We take a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk on the sites we work, from ground conditions and traffic management through to plant-specific hazards. So our clients can focus on the project, not on managing compliance.
